Pumpkin Chunkin, Elections, and Electro-Magnets
This week we began with some Pumpkin Chunkin with student made Trebuchets. the designs were all unique and the distance and height of the pumpkins they tossed varied a great deal.
We also held our officer elections and experimented with building basic electro-magnetic devices using nails, magnets, and wine. The real world applications of this kind of science are extensive with examples like Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS).

Safe Halloween- Spooky Hallways
Today the Makerspace club will meet to prepare for and run a Safe Halloween- Spooky Hallways event in partnership with the Art Honor Society and the Math Honor Society. We will be encouraging kids do color a pumpkin that then can become virtual thanks to the augmented reality app Quiver. We tested it out in our last Makerspace club meeting and you can see the results above!
We will also be helping kids to launch candy with student created trebuchets and run a spooky computer coded skeleton image that will have a exciting surprise!
